Bryce Canyon National Park
Bryce is special due to it's unique erosion pattern. The park is about 25 mile in length (one road with short branches). The Ruby Inn at the entrance was a Best Western the last time we were here. Today it is everything a traveler needs out in the middle of nowhere (motel, lodge, cabins, tepee tents, RV park, auto and truck service, trinkets, grocery (a box of Kraft macaroni $2.95), clothes, laundry, restaurant, rocks, etc., etc. Quite a gold mine. That's why I'm staying down the mountain in Little Podunk. The Park Service now has an optional shuttle covering the lower 1/4 of the park. We took the Squirrel and hit the upper 3/4, high ground, today (around 9,000'). We will get to the shuttle later this week. We saw deer, pronghorn, and some recent fire damage; and the high elevation evergreens mixed with the light sandstone is very nice.
