The sky didn't clear up till 9am so we got a slow start and made this a drive-hike day. A trip up scenic byway 128 took us up the Colorado River canyon. Spectacular cliffs, the river, and the red bluffs used for many 1950 westerns. We did stop to hike several mile of the Negro Bill Canyon, which was a green riparian paradise, especially after the overnight rain.
A DOE uranium tailings cleanup site, a potash mine, and some Indian petroglyphs finished off the rest of the early afternoon.
