Panguitch to Moab

For Labor Day we turned the corner and headed east again.  The 250 mile trip took Moose through an irrigated valley which was mainly grazing and baling land, though a 7,800' summit with forested hills and elk, across at least five different rock formations of the Utah Staircase including San Rafael Knob and Reef, and concluding with a view of the LaSal Mountain range as we neared Moab. Several interesting long, up and downhill grades of over 7%. We think Moab has quadrupled in size since we were here 25+ years ago. After settling in at the OK RV Park, we took a short drive to The Scott Mathison Wetland Preserve. This mile walk is through the edge of supposedly the only quality wetland preserve on the Colorado River. The preserve is about 900 acres. Our lot at the OK is a typical western stone lot but we have some cottonwoods and shrubs and it looks like a nice setting as a home base for the next four nights.
